The Adonirdack Mountains hold a special place in my client's heart because she's from New York. She gave me an faded landscape shot of the mountains from her younger days, and I recreated a sunset from it.
Adonirdacks - Left Detail
These pictures were taken nearly 10 years after I painted this. Still as good as the day I painted it.
Adonirdacks - Right Detail
I still can't spell the bloody name without looking it up, though.
Mickey & Minnie: Round 1
In summer 2015, a crazy old man flew me out from Dallas to Milwaukee so I could paint four of his garage doors.
Mickey & Minnie: Where It All Began
Well, sort of. The story began when I was in high school, before 2009.
Mickey & Minnie: Creative Construction
See, Al and Ginny Emmons own a property renovation company called Creative Construction of Wisconsin. They needed an artist, and one of their tenants referred them to me.
Mickey & Minnie: A Special Touch
Al and Ginny like to add special little touches that make their properties more unique, visually appealing, and especially welcoming for families.
Mickey & Minnie: Beginnings
A big part of that was putting Disney and other family-friendly motifs all over the place, and they were huge fans of Mickey and Minnie. Thus, they commissioned me to paint the first of several Mickey and Minnie murals.
Making Little Girls Happy...
Here was a family with two little girls (now three plus one little boy!), who wanted something in the girls' bedroom.
And Making the Parents Happy Too.
Unsurprisingly, the parents were on a family budget. So here's how I reconciled the two...
...by painting simple but elegant trees and branches on the walls, and using foam cut-outs for flowers, bees, butterflies, and even an owl and beehive. Most were ready-made; I custom-cut the owl and beehive.
When the girls inevitably outgrow flowers and cute little bees, the parents will just peel off the cutouts and presto-- they've got a classy tree-and-branches mural that fits just about anything. (Next idea: Literal family tree with portraits?)
